Privacy Policy
Your files should stay private.
PDFMerger is a browser-based PDF toolkit. The app is served to your browser, and everyday document work is processed locally on your device. PDFMerger does not provide a server upload endpoint for your files, and it does not store PDF content on the server.

How PDFMerger handles Google Drive data
When you choose Google Drive, PDFMerger uses Google data only for the Drive action you start: choosing a file, opening that file in the browser workspace, or saving a finished document back to Drive. This use follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
| What PDFMerger can see |
Only Drive items needed for the workflow you start. That can include file names, IDs, file sizes,
modified dates, and the contents of files you explicitly select. If you save an output file,
PDFMerger may create that one file in Drive. The intended scope is drive.file, which
limits access to files opened or created through PDFMerger rather than your full Drive.
|
|---|---|
| Why it is used | Metadata helps show the file picker. Selected file content is brought into the browser workspace for the PDF action you choose, such as merging or converting. If you request cloud export, the final file is sent back to Drive. Google Drive data is not used for advertising, audience profiling, or model training. |
| How long it stays | The standard PDFMerger workflow keeps document handling in the browser. Google metadata, selected files, and generated outputs are not stored by PDFMerger in a server database, file system, or document log. Browser memory is cleared when you remove files, refresh, or close the page. Retention position: PDFMerger does not keep your documents on its server. |
| Who it is shared with | Google Drive data is not sold or passed to third parties for marketing. PDFMerger does not provide staff-side document review. If you request support, share only the details you are comfortable sending. |
| Google permission |
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file lets the app work with files you open or
create through PDFMerger. You can review or remove access in your
Google account permissions.
|
| Limited Use commitment | Google data is used only to provide the Drive-related PDF feature you selected. It is not used for unrelated analytics, advertising, credit decisions, or machine learning model training. |
About this policy
This page explains how PDFMerger, a locally processed PDF toolkit by Manjurul Islam, treats information when you use the website and its document tools. For general privacy questions, contact support@mergepdfs.ac.uk.
The policy may change as PDFMerger gains features or deployment options. The current version will always be published on this page. The guiding principle stays the same: keep documents in the browser whenever possible and avoid server-side file storage.
01
Information PDFMerger may handle
The app keeps the data surface small. In the normal workflow, files stay in your browser and are not uploaded to a PDFMerger server.
- Documents: files you add are read by browser-side code for the chosen PDF operation.
- Output files: generated documents are created for you to download or save, not retained by PDFMerger.
- Technical details: browser, device, request, and error information may help serve the site and diagnose failures.
- Session details: a short-lived token or cookie may keep an optional cloud connection active while you work.
- Google Drive details: handled under the Google Drive notice above.
- Dropbox details: file names, metadata, and selected content are used only for the import or export you request.
- Support details: information you choose to send through email, LinkedIn, GitHub, or Buy Me a Coffee.
02
How that information is used
- To complete the PDF tool action you selected in your browser.
- To show optional cloud file pickers for Google Drive or Dropbox.
- To export a finished file to a cloud account when you choose that option.
- To serve the website, protect availability, and diagnose failures.
- To reply when you contact support.
- To show ads if enabled, without using document content or Google Drive data for targeting.
PDFMerger does not repurpose your documents for unrelated business uses and does not store your PDF content on its server.
03
Your choices and rights
Privacy rights vary by location, but they may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or consent withdrawal. PDFMerger does not require accounts, so routine use may leave little personal data to locate.
To make a privacy request, email privacy@mergepdfs.ac.uk. If your request is about a document you processed locally, PDFMerger may not have a copy to access, delete, or recover.
05
Advertising, if enabled
PDFMerger may use Google AdSense or similar services to support free access. Ad providers may use cookies based on visits to this or other websites, but PDF file content, browser-side output files, and Google Drive data are not used for advertising.
Learn more from Google's AdSense privacy requirements and Advertising Privacy & Terms.
06
Security approach
PDFMerger reduces risk by avoiding server-side document uploads in the normal workflow. It also uses practical safeguards such as HTTPS in production, limited cloud permissions, temporary sessions, and browser-based task handling. No software is risk-free, so use judgement before working with highly sensitive documents.
07
Connected services and outside links
PDFMerger may connect to outside services when they support a feature, hosting, security, advertising, or support. Each provider controls its own terms and privacy policy.
- Google Drive API - optional Drive picker and export features you start. See the Google notice above and Google's API Services User Data Policy.
- Dropbox API - optional Dropbox picker and export features you start. See the Dropbox Privacy Policy.
- Buy Me a Coffee - project support, payments, and memberships. See its Privacy Policy and Terms.
- Railway - application hosting if deployed there. In the local-processing design, hosting serves the app files rather than storing your PDFs.
- Cloudflare - DNS, CDN, and security services if configured.
- Google services - advertising, Drive, or related Google infrastructure where enabled.
Links away from PDFMerger lead to services outside our control. Check their policies before sharing personal information.
08
Children's privacy
PDFMerger is built for general document productivity and is not aimed at children under 13. If you think a child has sent personal information through the site, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
